A: The Professional Beauty Association (PBA) and our partners, Cosmoprof North America (CPNA) came together wanting to help beauty entrepreneurs take their company to the next level. Beauty Pitch™ is a one-of-a-kind beauty competition that gives these beauty companies the opportunity to not only get their product or idea in front of investors, but to “pitch” their product to an esteemed panel of judges at the live Beauty Pitch™ event on Saturday, July 23, 2016.

Cosmoprof North America, held during PBA Beauty Week, is the perfect place to hold this competition as it connects these beauty entrepreneurs with the hundreds of manufacturer and distributor exhibitors that attend CPNA year after year. Six finalists from both categories will be on stage to pitch their company to this year’s judges including, John Paul DeJoria, Co-Founder & Chairman of the Board, John Paul Mitchell Systems & The Patron Spirits Company, Kevin Harrington, CEO, Kevin Harrington Enterprises, Deanne Kaczerski, Executive Editor, InStyle Digital Innovation, Time Inc., Mark Spinks, President of CosmoProf and Armstrong McCall, Sally Beauty Holdings, and Emily Dougherty, Beauty Director, Elle Magazine. Beauty Pitch™ will be an incredible asset to these beauty industry companies looking to take that next step in their businesses.

Q: What changes have you made to Beauty Pitch this year?

A: This year, Beauty Pitch™ 2016 will give the opportunity to all U.S.-based beauty entrepreneurs from all sectors of the industry, including prestige, mass, clinical, organic/natural and the professional salon/spa market as well as technology service providers, to enter one of two categories: Startup or Established. The Startup Category is for companies that have an annual revenue of $100,000 to $5M and the Established Category is for companies that have an annual revenue of $5M and above. This opens the competition to more companies than last year.

Also this year, we have added on two new retail partners, Beauty Systems Group (BSG): Armstrong McCall, CosmoProf and Loxa Beauty and Amazon Launchpad that will provide applicants the unique opportunity for distribution.

Q: Why should a beauty entrepreneur enter Beauty Pitch?

A: All beauty entrepreneurs looking to take their business to the next step should enter Beauty Pitch™. Businesses that apply have the chance to have their applications reviewed by an affiliate network of investors, sponsors, distribution partners and retail companies for potential partnerships. The Beauty Pitch™ competition provides these beauty entrepreneurs brand exposure, the chance to gain unique visibility, and the opportunity to network with other beauty industry leaders at the live event on Saturday, July 23rd.

 Q: What tips do you have for someone thinking about entering Beauty Pitch?

A: Beauty Pitch™ is a unique opportunity that could benefit both new and established beauty companies. The application process for Beauty Pitch™ includes multiple parts.  We recommend reserving time to enter and reviewing beautypitch.com to watch videos on the benefits of entering and the pitching process. During the application process, companies are required to submit several items including financial information, an executive summary, and a 2-minute video.

Q: When is the deadline to enter Beauty Pitch and where do I learn more?

A: The deadline for Beauty Pitch™ 2016 is Wednesday, May 10th at 5:00pm PDT and interested entrepreneurs can enter at beautypitch.com/submit. The live event is open to all CPNA and PBA Beauty Week attendees and is being held on Saturday, July 23rd at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.
