the cannabis dilemma in health and wellness
Cannabidiol—CBD, better known as cannabis, has become an ingredient that is highly controversial when used in health and wellness products. However, the use of CBD in products has natural healing components that offer pleasing results for consumers who opt for CBD treatment.
What Exactly is CBD (Cannabidiol)
Based on research by Project CBD: “Cannabidiol—CBD—is a cannabis compound that has significant medical benefits but does not make people feel ‘stoned’ and can actually counteract the psychoactivity of THC. The fact that CBD-rich cannabis is non-psychoactive or less psychoactive than THC-dominant strains makes it an appealing option for patients looking for relief from inflammation, pain, anxiety, psychosis, seizures, spasms, and other conditions without disconcerting feelings of lethargy or dysphoria.”
The Implications of CBD In the Beauty Industry
July 29, 2018, Cosmoprof North Americas’ yearly B2B beauty tradeshow will be hosting an educational conference titled: “High on Beauty: The Cannabis Dilemma.” This session will speak to the medicinal implications that cannabis has in the beauty industry. As a teaser to this enlightening session, I made a special visit to Totally Tiffany Nails, the only nail salon in the Las Vegas valley that offers a CBD pedicure. Totally Tiffany Nails is a holistic, nail-care salon situated in Las Vegas, right outside of the city of Henderson, NV.
Tiffany Kambouris is the spa owner and CEO of Totally Tiffany Nails. She is a beautiful soul with an amazing team of women who work in harmony to create a serene atmosphere. Upon arriving, I was greeted with warm smiles and hospitality. I received the CBD pedicure from Megan, and it was an invigorating experience — very soothing and relaxing. The pedicure lasted for 50 minutes, and the aromatherapy leg and foot oil soothed my senses offering an all-around pleasurable treatment. A hot stone application was used to relieve muscle tension and reduce stress. Upon completion of my foot spa treatment, my feet felt delicately light. The CBD pedicure was a rejuvenating experience. The products utilized for my CBD pedicure were:
- Apothecanna Relieving Body Cream, Leg and Foot Spray and Circulating Leg and Foot Oil (that is added to the water).

Fast-acting and deeply penetrating, warming sensation, helps stimulate blood flow.
Totally Tiffany Nails exclusively uses the brand Apothecanna for their CBD pedicure. Apothecanna is a natural body-care brand that offers cannabis-based products. I did some research on Apothecanna, and based on the background information from their website, here is what I gathered.
“Apothecanna products are formulated with natural, nutritious ingredients to help balance the body and the senses. Every ingredient Apothecanna uses is an ‘active’ ingredient for a specific therapeutic purpose. Apothecanna products are formulated with vegan, organic, non-gmo, and gluten-free ingredients.”
A few of the key ingredients in Apothecanna products that Totally Tiffany Nails use are arnica, which relieves pain and inflammation; juniper, used as an antiseptic and anti-rheumatic; and peppermint, which is an anti-inflammatory that gives a cooling effect.
The Vision Behind Tiffany Kambouris
As I enjoyed my pedicure, I was able to chat with Kambouris to learn more about her background and her beginning as an entrepreneur in the beauty industry.

“As a native of Las Vegas, beauty has always been a part of my life,” says Kambouris. “I grew up in the beauty industry, watching my mother and aunty work in salons.” Through this, Kambouris learned early that she was passionate about beauty and moved forward to attend beauty school at the age of 17.
“I worked in many salons, but felt there was something missing from retail salon chains, not offering an organic and genuine experience for my clients.” Kambouris opened her own salon to create an environment that allowed her customers to feel welcome, enjoy a relaxing experience, and leave with a smile on their face.
“Totally Tiffany Nails is a salon of independent women full of positive energy with upbeat personalities. We’re ambassadors of beauty that represent unity.” —Tiffany Kambouris & Team
As Kambouris’s clientele grew and diversified from women to men, athletes and the like, Kambouris noticed that CBD products were good, and she thought it would be beneficial to incorporate this treatment in her salon, suiting the needs of her customers. Totally Tiffany Nails has been using CBD treatments in the salon for eight months now and the customer’s love it.
“I Love Tiffany’s Nails. The salon is super cute, clean, and they have different themes daily to make it fun—Tiara Tuesdays anyone? Their newest exclusive service is the CBD pedicure which trust me, you must try. It’s a treat to your feet and you’ll float afterward.” —Review from Daniela C. Yelp
